PURSE OF SAINT STEPHEN

The Purse of St. Stephen is the Archfather's Annual Appeal for specific charities around the world. It is named for the celestial patron of the Anglican Patriarchate, Saint Stephen the Deacon and Protomartyr, who was one of the original deacons of the Church and was tasked with distributing alms to the poor. His Holiness and Eminence the Archfather selects the charities on an annual basis. 100% of the donated funds are given to those charities* at the end of the appeal. This year's appeal for the Purse of St. Stephen begins on 1 January and continues through 31 December 2020. However, funds may be sent at any time during the year. The fund is managed by the Patriarchal Aerarium, the treasury of the Patriarchal Curia.

The charities chosen by His Holiness and Eminence for 2020-2021 are:
Food Banks
International Medical Support

Funds that to reach the Anglican Patriarchate may be reduced due to transaction fees imposed by PayPal or other financial institutions.
These fees are collected by those institutions, and the Anglican Patriarchate has no control over them.
